Welcome to the FOX Sports Fantasy Football Commissioner 2009, where you’ll experience the only fantasy game in the market that allows you to fully customize leagues in several different ways. Your league can have up to 20 teams, with multiple owners, or you can join an existing league that fits exactly what you are looking for this season.

**New Features for 2009**
  • Multiple Owners – If a team would like to share team ownership with someone else, they will have the ability to assign another owner to their team. Both owners will have the same abilities when it comes to running the team.
  • Team QB – You now have the option to either select an individual quarterback or an entire NFL team’s QB staff. You will now accrue stats from any QB of the team you select. (Ex: In 2008, if you had the Patriots Team QB, you would have accrued stats from Matt Cassel once he stepped in for an injured Tom Brady.)
  • Create League Schedules – Create your own league schedule exactly how you want it.

The Commissioner

In the world of fantasy sports, being the commissioner qualifies you as the president, prime minister, king, Pope and emperor of your very own fantasy league. Once you’re done gathering your friends, co-workers, family, or any other FOX Sports users, invite them all individually and set up your league. As commissioner, you will be responsible for starting up and monitoring the entire league throughout the season.

Commissioner responsibilities include:

  • League Setup – Starting with sending out your league invites. You can set up and customize the entire league at your own pace. Set up divisions, select the draft type, generate the league schedule, define the roster limitations, scoring, and much more.
  • Team Ownerships – Only the commissioner may assign multiple owners to a particular team. Ownership may be altered throughout the season, via the Commissioner Tools. All owners will share the exact same rights for any team in which they share the title of "Owner".
  • Schedule Coordination – Generate your schedule automatically or set each matchup at a time. You will also decide when and how many teams will be eligible to make the playoffs.
  • Roster Transactions – Select your Lineup and Add/Drop deadline to either five minutes or one hour before game time. You may also select a designated date/time as a deadline. Choose whether you'd like Free Agency or Waivers (and when players will clear Waivers). It is also very important to decide if your league will allow trades, and if so, you’ll have to determine if trades are processed immediately, put through a league vote, or if the power to veto the trade will be put entirely in the commissioner's hands.
  • Fee Assessments – If you choose to associate any sort of fees into your league, such as a League Entry Fee or Trade Fee, you may go ahead and do so. Fees will not be assessed or enforced by FOX Sports. We are not responsible for the settling of any monetary prizes or any other agreed upon compensation. The "Finances" page is simply to help the commissioners and owners track any fees that they may have been assessed for a particular league.

Part of being a commissioner also includes the monitoring of fair play and sportsmanship. While the commissioner does have full control of a league, we here at FOX Sports do monitor and reserve the right to disqualify/remove any owner who does not comply with the rules.

Sportsmanship rules include and are not limited to:

  • Collusion – Collusion is often seen on one-sided trade occurrences when one user makes a move to improve another user’s team, without trying to improve its own.
  • Multiple Teams / One Owner – Owners often join the same league with different accounts in order to have multiple teams. An owner may not control two different teams in the same league.
  • Roster Dumping – Owners often decide they’re quitting the league and proceed to dump their entire roster into the free agent pool in order to undermine the league.
  • Owner Interaction / Offensive Posts – Please refrain from making any posts (draft room, bulletin board, etc.) of a derogatory nature. These posts will include personal attacks, racist comments, etc. Owners should always be polite and have respect for others who participate in your league and we ask that any personal conflicts be kept private.
The Draft

While our children may look forward to Christmas Day and our wives look forward to Valentine’s Day, we fantasy football fanatics impatiently wait for the most important day in fantasy sports: The Draft.

  • Automated Draft – The draft will automatically run at a designated date and time. Owners may customize their player rankings beforehand, if they wish, or they can let the system use FOX Sports’ default rankings to draft their team.
  • Offline Draft – Owners select teams via an alternative resource other than online. The commissioner manually enters in teams at his/her leisure. An example would be having the draft at someone’s house or meeting up at a restaurant.
  • Online Live Draft - This is the most popular draft method. Online draft simply means that all owners will select their teams by taking turns via our online draft room. The commissioner can determine how many rounds a draft will consist of, as well as the time and date that the draft will run.
  • Draft Order – The draft order is selected randomly, however, the commissioner will be able to alter the order during the league setup process.
  • Draft Format – The draft will either be in the ‘Snake’ format (1,2,3,4,5-5,4,3,2,1) or ‘Traditional’ (1,2,3,4,5-1,2,3,4,5).

The Scoring

Fantasy Commissioner 2009 will include a default scoring system for all leagues. If your league commissioner chooses to do so, he may customize the scoring to his liking at any time during league setup before the season has started or at any time throughout. This year, we have also given you the retro scoring option where if the scoring system is customized at any time during the season, the commissioner may re-score ALL of the past games based on any single scoring change.

The default scoring options include:

Passing Stats:

  • Passing Touchdowns = 6 Points
  • Interception = (-2) Points
  • Passing Yards = 25 Yards/1.00 Point
  • 2 Point Conversions = 2 Points

Rushing Stats:

  • Rushing Touchdowns = 6 Points
  • Rushing Yards = 10 Yards/1.00 Point
  • 2 Point Conversions = 2 Points

Receiving Stats:

  • Receiving Touchdowns = 6 Points
  • Receiving Yards = 10 Yards/1.00 Point
  • 2 Point Conversions = 2 Points

Miscellaneous:

  • Fumbles Lost = (-2) Points

Kicking Stats:

  • 0-19 Yards = 3 Points
  • 20-29 Yards = 3 Points
  • 30-39 Yards = 3 Points
  • 40-49 Yards = 4 Points
  • 50-59 Yards = 5 Points
  • 60+ Yards = 6 Points
  • Extra Points Made = 1 Point

Special Team Stats:

  • Return TD 6 Points
  • Fumble Recovery 2 Points
  • Blocked Field Goal 3 Points
  • Blocked Punt 3 Points

Team Defense Stats:

  • Points Allowed: 0 = 12 Points
  • Points Allowed: 1 - 6 = 7 Points
  • Points Allowed: 7 - 13 = 4 Points
  • Points Allowed: 14 - 20 = 1 Points
  • Points Allowed: 21 - 27 = 0 Points
  • Points Allowed: 28 - 34 = -1 Points
  • Points Allowed: 35+ = -4 Points
  • Sacks = 1 Point
  • Interception = 2 Points
  • Fumble Recovery = 2 Points
  • Safety = 2 Points
  • Def TD = 6 Points
